Let’s start with good: It’s Ashlina. Anyone whose ever read her blog knows what I’m talking about. Ashlina is girly without being saccharine. Peppy (Ex: You can do it! Yay!) without being annoying. New Age-y (think Feng Shui and healing crystals) with a dash of Judeo-Christian spirituality. It’s an odd mix but she makes it work, and because of this, she’s original and a joy to read and it comes across not only on her blog but in this book.The book is a joy to read, beautiful pictures and fantastic content. I read a friend’s copy and loved it. It really is the little things that matter. Little things like creating rituals just for you come out blazing in her words and photography. I love that she really emphasizes self-care. As someone who was recently diagnosed with adrenal fatigue all because I wasn’t taking care of myself, because I was constantly in “Go” mode, self-care is incredibly important. Slow down, and give yourself a little extra time, enjoy the details. Buy those flowers, light that candle, you are worth indulging on.
However, despite being a lovely addition to the library, I can’t help but notice how over priced it is. There’s is such a thing of indulging in oneself vs being taken advantage of. I’m not sure who recommended to her that $22 USD was a fair price for 110 pages (paperback) and I’m not sure what it cost to put out (photography, special fonts, advertisement etc.) but from a book marketing standpoint, she could have recouped all of that and made a healthy profit in short period of time if she lowered the price to $9.99. I would also suggest she look into selling her eBook on Amazon (that’s where the monies at) and not just her site. Again, lower the price (2.99-8.99) of the eBook to get that 70% royalties.

This is a easy to read yet thoughtfully detailed primer on how to truly step into your highest self through your physical environment. As a decorator myself, I have seen firsthand the transformations that take place when you uplevel your surroundings. Ashlina shows you how to do just that in practical, easy ways that don't require spending a lot of money - just time, energy and focus.
Reading this book felt like Ashlina was speaking right to me as a friend or sister. I feel so inspired having finished the book as it's gotten rid of some hesitancy I had in designing my home and life and made me understand how to really live blissfully, even in simple daily routines. Working from home I tend to feel cooped up in my own home and "stuck" but there are so many tips in this book that I can't wait to incorporate to liven up my space and make it feel luxurious. I literally felt in such a great mood and so excited after reading this. I can't wait for another book from Ashlina!!

I just received my copy of the book and am so disappointed that for $25, the book is only 110 page, including pictures. Smdh!
